A shot in the arm

Yes it is early but baseball has an excitement in the air again around the country. Several teams are off to a fast start, challenging the big boys and showing no signs of letting up.

The AL East looks like the Sox and Yanks are going to have company this time around as the Jays are tied with NY a game out of the first. Baltimore is only 2.5 back.

The Tigers have not looked this good in over a decade. Leyland has the Motor City playing like champs. Cleveland has started disappointing but you know they have a charge in them at some point this year.

Texas is in first in the West. It looks like they will be around with Oakland and LA challenging.

The Mets have the biggest lead early on but you have to think either Atlanta or Philly is going to get hot.

Watch those Reds. They may have to change their name to the Red Hots cause thats how they are playing. They only team that looks like they have no chance to win the NL Central is Pittsburgh. The Cubs have significant injuries but are still only 3 games back.

Colorado leads the weak NL West and there is no clear cut favorite in that division. This race should stay close enough all year that it is a serious 5 team race until the end.

I can not remember a time when this many teams had an opportunity to win the division. There really are only a few teams that have no shot this year which should help baseball in attendance and ratings as the year goes on. My advise is to be a part of it if you are a fan because things are going to be interesting.
